Mission Statement:

  • St. Coen’s National School is a Catholic School under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin.

  • We acknowledge that each child is unique and accepted for themselves and will develop to the best of their ability.

  • We provide a positive environment for children and staff where learning and development can take place.

  • We aim to foster the holistic development of all children, empowering them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to reach their potential.

  • We encourage children to take pride in their school and community and to have a sense of respect, honesty and integrity.

About the School:

Our school is named after St. Coen a derivation of the old Irish name Caoimhín meaning Kevin. The school is situated in an area formerly called Droim Coen or the Ridge of Kevin.

St. Coen’s NS opened its doors in the 2016/2017 academic year when two schools, St. Joseph’s GNS and St. Ernan’s BNS, were amalgamated. The current building in Merrymeeting opened in December of 2016.
